May 31, 2023

Every RPG player knows about the logistic difficulties when playing a co-op campaign. Luckily, Baldur’s Gate 3 has a solution for them called Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends. Here’s everything you need to know about Larian Studios’ new mechanic.

Larian Studios confirmed the launch of a highly-anticipated tool for fans who like playing Baldur’s Gate 3 in co-op but are struggling to find the right moment to reunite every party member. This mechanic is called Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends and promises to be the solution to one of the main requests made by players.

Baldur’s Gate 3 devs explained that this option would be “coming soon as a major patch near you,” but they haven’t confirmed a release date yet.

Here’s everything you need to know about Wither’s Wardrobe of Wayward Friends in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Withers is a mysterious NPC in Baldur’s Gate 3 that appears in Act 1. He’ll offer players to revive their companions, respec classes and abilities, or summon Hirelings for 100 gold pieces.

Withers can be found through the main storyline when reaching the Dank Crypt, or he’ll simply appear at the player’s camp.

According to Larian Studios’ Community Update #24, Withers will soon offer a new service called “Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends” in Baldur’s Gate 3. This mechanic is meant to help players who are stuck in a co-op campaign and want to keep playing without waiting for the original party members.

Here’s how Baldur’s Gate 3 devs described this new option:

“Offline friends sticking around and disrupting your party? Frustration be gone! Your favorite skeletal weirdo has cooked up a solution, in the form of Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends! It’s no anomaly: simply place any unwanted party members in this peculiar piece of paranormia, and they’ll be out of sight and mind until the jolly co-operation continues. Coming soon to a major patch near you.”

Fans think that this new mechanic will allow players to “park” characters at camp and swap them when the original party members are available to join the game again.
